Spending an entire day in a two story open cabana, with this view. Ahhhhh. Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.
On my first-ever trip to Las Vegas, my friends and I strolled “the Strip” taking in all the sights and sounds of Sin City. One of the nice surprises was stumbling upon the work of Dale Chihuly, an artist that works with glass sculptures. The photo below is from his installation at the Bellagio. According to his website, this installation was completed in 1998.
Several years ago, Chihuly had an exhibit of his work at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. I wish I had seen his exhibit. It was wildly popular. I had no idea who he was at the time – it was literally the week after his exhibit closed that I saw a PBS special on his work. I hope to see a full exhibit at some point. This amazing ceiling work at the Bellagio was a surprise to see – and only makes me want to see more of his work.
Very few people seem to be willing to acknowledge the energy crisis we’re facing. Yet Americans whine everytime gas prices rise. So, tonight they’re presented with an opportunity to turn off the lights for an hour and think about energy consumption and conservation. And they scoff. Speaks volumes.
