a journey for photo knowledge

I’ll do anything for a good shot… even get in the pool.

Grand Turk

This land-locked Atlanta city-dweller could use more scenery like this in his life. Unabashed blue. And smiles for days.

Rest in peace.

A cemetery in Old San Juan. What a peaceful resting place.

The hills are alive…

On our Sept 2013 cruise to the Caribbean, we had a few hour delay getting to St. Thomas (engine problems that were thankfully corrected). Eventually, we were able to dock. These are the homes that dot the landscape.

Lose yourself, seriously.

I am not a well traveled person. I’m only now, in my mid-40s beginning to travel a bit. Last year’s cruise afforded me some amazing opportunities. On our St. Thomas, Virgin Islands stop, we hopped a taxi to Cruz Bay, took a ferry to St. John and then a “taxi” to what has to be the most beautiful, relaxing place I’ve ever been. Trunk Bay, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Going back in September.

Spending an entire day in a two story open cabana, with this view. Ahhhhh. Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.

Sailing… takes me away.

Last year was not such a great year. Lost my best friend and my brother. There were, however, a few bright notes. Went on my first cruise ever. Verdict? I can see why people love ’em and why people hate ’em.  I’m going again in Sep 2014.  This shot was in the slightly bumpy water of the Bahamas, on a tender boat to Half Moon Cay.

Street Performers

The best thing to see in Key West is the sunset. Before sunset each day, crowds gather at Mallory Square. Time is passed by, among other things, watching street performers. This aparatus was used by an escape artist in his chained performance. But his daughter doing the introduction turned out to be the better shot.

Key West

On a trip to Key West in 2006 with my sister, I snapped hundreds of photos. This is one of my favorite shots from the entire trip. At times the smooth, glassy water was competing with the sun for attention.

One week until my digital photography class starts.

Sister’s Backyard

This was taken with my Sony Cybershot on one of my first trips to my Sister’s place in Navarre. Such a beautiful “back yard.”
